Patent Blue V is a darkish bluish dye that gives a blue to greenish blue colour in applications. The colorant is composed basically of the calcium or sodium salt of Bis[hydrogen [4-[4-(diethylamino)-5′-hydroxy-2′,4′-disulphonatobenzhydrylidene] cyclohexa- 2,5-dien-1-ylidene]diethyl ammonium and subsidiary coloring matters.
